As we are approaching the end of phase 1 of the DFG Research Unit 5195, the research-unit PIs have recently submitted a renewal proposal for a phase 2, from 2026 to 2030. In this context, we have hosted a DFG review panel on 22\/23 September 2025 at JMU W\u00fcrzburg. The meeting covered an overview of our science output in phase 1 as well as science goals for a second phase. The presentations provided an excellent opportunity to highlight the unique collaborative environment fostered by the DFG Research Unit format. The formal decision on the continuation of the Research Unit will be made by the DFG Senate in December, based on the recommendations of the review board.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of the Research Unit for their outstanding work, as well as our collaboration partners for their continued cooperation and joint efforts. We are particularly grateful for the dedication and motivation shown by our junior team members throughout the review process \u2014 their commitment deserves special recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
